Streetwise with angel - Please Save Nigeria;Vote right! Vote conscientiously!

Image result for images of every vote count
Winners of elections in Nigeria are predictable because we already have this conception that our votes don't count due to various electoral malpractices over the years. It is also as a result of our belief system in the concept of 'anointed candidate'. Nigerians pattern of voting is 'one-way ' traffic; often times we forget to critically assess the candidates and the post they are vying for. Subconsciously, we follow the dictates and the wish of 'political elites'. This is why the problem of leadership continue to threaten us as a nation.

Political parties pay little or no attention to their ideologies, philosophies and their manifestos, they are only interested in gaining power. Hence, political parties too can not clearly state what they tend to offer to the citizenry if they gain power. The only assurance they give is that "we will deliver" without clearly stating the deliverable to expect.  Political parties do not have objective criteria and yardsticks in electing their own flag bearer, so they often come out with an 'anointed candidate'or the candidate that pays the bills using the phrase 'consensus candidate' as a camouflage. If the parties  play on the electorates' intelligence by organizing a 'kangaroo primary' where the 'anointed candidate' still emerge. This is why most political parties recycle the same set of candidates every four years.

During the election we are always left with 'the good, the bad and the ugly', Nigerians don't believe in the fact that they can actually vote in a credible leader, they will rather vote 'the ugly' to despite the candidate they perceived as the bad one. In Nigeria, debates, manifestos and the antecedent of candidates contesting don't really matter provided that they have been 'anointed'.Come to a state in Nigeria where you become a Governor once you are 'loyal' to the 'Landlord'and you become a political party flag bearer, go to another state where you gain power the moment you are loyal to the dynasty.

Even to win an election in Nigeria as a whole you need the 'ex-generals' support, 'the go-ahead of traditional rulers', the attestation from international communities' 'the is ok of businessmen' and 'the anointing of religious leaders'. Once,  you have been endorsed by all of the above,  worry less about the actual electorates they don't have a choice. They will either vote for you or rig for you even if you are the 'worst' of the candidates contesting for the same office. The electorates often end up voting for a less credible candidate because of the notions that the credible ones will not win. The arguments are based on the endorsement above and the inability of credible candidates perceived 'good" to harmonizes their thoughts and come out strong together. Hence, an average electorate is not interesed in "wasting" his/her vote, he/she will end up voting for the 'anointed candidate' or to whom the majority for .

If the situation remains what it is, the problem of bad leadership may persist, Nigerians need to appraise political parties based of their philosophies, the ideologies they are offering and assess their flag bearer based on factual antecedent. More so, debates for aspirants should be taken seriously by electorates as one of the ways to be sure of what aspirants are promising based on their comments and body languages.

Finally, when it is time to vote the electorates will have to look beyond the political parties and dissect the personalities to be voted for. This becomes necessary because for you to vote conscientiously there is a need for you to be convinced that your preferred candidate is someone you can entrust with your future and know that you will bear the burden of his actions or inactions at least for the next four years. It will be foolish of you to vote based on a candidate's popularity or based on religion and tribal inclination.

You need to vote for people based on what they have done, and what they say they will do. You need to get a bit personal, do a check on their profile to adjudge how humane they are and their perspective for rule of law. To be conscientious while voting, at the end of your assessment your preferred candidate is the option you must attest to at the polling booth without inducement. Please save Nigeria; vote right! Vote conscientiously!

Streetwise with angel - Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, the woman that won Russia 2018

France won the world cup but the Croatians won the hearts of many. The Croatian team was one of those teams that sport analysts looked up to, to spring a surprise in the World cup and indeed they never disappointed. Consequently, they played their first match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria and defeated us, this gave them an edge over every other teams in the group. The  3 - 0 win over the Argentine's team made the world look in their direction as a team that meant business. They led the group 'unbeaten' into the next stage.

Suddenly the world noticed a fan of the Croatian team, behold it is the President of the country Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic cheering her citizens to victory in various matches. Then attention of the world shifted to Croatian National team. The surprise was not that a President came to watch a match, the surprise was that a female President passionately took interest in his country's football matches at the World cup more than her male counterparts. That she wore a jersey like every other fan without an oppressing security details, this spoke a volume about her simplicity.

Yes France Emmanuel Macron boys might have won the trophy and took it to Paris, Croatian Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic won many hearts and took it to Zagreb. The fact that even France National team was an African Union in disguise reminded us again that Africa has the potential to rule the world. That a female president is a number one fan of the national football team is a lesson for us all. This woman has shown us that either as followers and leaders our patriotism should know no boundary.

Kolinda has displayed to the world that the battle of 'gender inequality' is a fiction of our own imagination, it is a fight without basis. The concept of 'It is man's world' is fallacy and the hypothesis of 'What a man can do; a woman can do better' is null and void. Her personality just shown to the world that 'sex' is not a determinant of who and what we are meant to be. It is just a definition of our being which should not decide for us what we should be.

Her hugs and kisses with men in the rain will surely take our mind back to sex as an act. Hence, we reflect on the breast and the butt. What of if she has forgotten her feminine nature and chose to be a human being in her thinking. Here is another lesson for us all,we need to look beyond the act of sex in our interaction with opposite sex to bring out the potentials in each other.

So, it ended Croatian national team won silver at the world cup but President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic won the hearts of many in Russia 2018.

Streetwise with angel - 'Ekitocrazy' Election for my country naa padi padi

Here is the lyrics from the song of African China,
'election for country naa padi padi, padi padi arrangi naa'.

I leave you to guess the meaning with a reference to another lyrics from the song of 9ice.

'Shebe le maa sun o te ba sope e o mo un kan kan, eyin aaro le ma wa o, mewaa n sele o. Lagbaja ti woo le, talo diibo fun pasan taa fi naa iyaale oun be lori aaja fun iyawo. Odo  elo tun ra mu ema je koo pe dudu fun yin ni funfun'.

The scenario in Ekiti state seems to be reality of  fact expressed by two the musicians. Can we really say over time that elections in Nigeria were what they should be? Apart from 1993 general election which was even annulled, the words of African China seems to be nothing but the truth. 'Election in Nigeria is by arrangement'. The case of Ekiti in the last 8 years really worth been studied by the political Scientist as "Ekitocrazy". It started with an appeal court verdict that ordered a "rerun election", this added a new vocabulary to the field of political science. After the election a three and the half legal battle ended and a winner emerged.

Peace indeed reigned for a short while until politicians gathered again and decided to make a shift from their party to the ruling party. Then power changed hand and the scoreline became 16-0. An average Ekiti electorate has suffered from the hands of politicians who chose propaganda and deceit to sell their personalities and that of their parties to the public. Virtually, all the politicians in the arena overrate their personal ambition than the interest of the state then it become the case of 'ai fagba fun eni kan ni je aaye ogun'.

Eventually, the time for another election is at the eleventh hour and the electorates will have to pick an option from the multiple choices that are not even the best the state can offer. The electorates have the option to pick "Continuity in poverty" or adopt a "Change" they once threw away on a platter of gold. The ball is in their court once again the option become theirs to make.

However, whatever choice eventually make the expectation should not be high, because it will be dawn of a turbulence night. The people should vote conscientiously and wait for the outcome. To sell vote is to buy poverty for the next four years and to vote out of sentiment is to vote for hypocrisy. Election should depict people's will not personal desire nor Federal might. Vote is your right, so vote right.

Streetwise with angel - Lagos tanker's explosion, who should we blame?

Seriously Speaking who should we blame for Lagos tanker inferno? Government of course! To believe that Nigeria is mixed trade is doing so at ones peril. We operate capitalism here, so Government need to wake up to its duty in regulating some life threatening economic activities due to " cutting corners".

The various Agencies of Government regulating some of our economic activities are not doing enough and they have not been paying due attention with priority to safety of lives and properties. We hear of fake drugs, drug abuse, human trafficking, violation of traffic rules as if we are in a chaotic nation. Yet there are laws against some of these social vices but it seems there is no political will to enforce these laws especially when a general election is drawing near.

No doubt Nigerians are carefree people too we endanger our lives. This carefree attitude for some is illiteracy and low level of intelligent quotient. For some they don't just care about safety of lives and properties. So the Government has a duty of orientation for the masses on actions that pose threat to lives and properties. Likewise, there should be laws that will ensure culprits either individuals or corporate organizations'actions and inactions that lead to disasters such persons should be held liable.

The menace of tanker and trailer drivers on our road is worrisome, due to height and weight of these vehicles their drivers intimidate other vehicles. Then the Government has to regulate their movement on the road in as much they are threat to lives and properties. They should have hours to be on the road say 12am - 4am. Companies that own these trucks should be compelled by law to pay millions of compensation to victims should in case any accident happen.

Hope you see what I am seeing it seems on response to emergency we are getting better while we tell Lagos State Government to keep it up, we can as well remind us all that 'Prevention is better than cure and obedience is better than sacrifice'.

May God rest the souls of the victims and continue to keep us from all dangers.
